The Three-Hour Ground: Overcoming Life's Hardest Moments

🌱 The Three-Hour Ground: Where I Almost Gave Up, and Life Moved On

✍️ Author: Jaiganesh Suresh

In May 2021, during the second COVID-19 lockdown, I walked out of my house with nothing in my pockets. No phone. No money. No plan. I only had a heavy chest filled with shame, exhaustion, and a feeling that I could not carry my life any further.

From 2014 to early 2020, I had worked for a company for six years. Then I took a risk and started my own garment job-work unit with ten stitching machines. I wanted to build something of my own. Then the pandemic came.

Hopelessness can make a temporary situation look like a permanent reality. The way you see your life during your worst few hours is not the final truth of your story.

1. The Ground Where Everything Became Quiet

By May 2021, bills were piling up, and home-loan EMIs were overdue. Even the small savings my wife kept as sacred offerings were taken out for daily necessities. Feeling humiliated after an argument, I walked three kilometers to an isolated piece of land shaded by dense neem trees.

Sitting there for three hours, I watched local boys playing cricket and wild peacocks walking nearby. The world kept moving, but inside me, everything had stopped. In those dark hours, shame and fear convinced me that there was no way back.

2. What I Could Not See That Day

When drowning in debt, fear, and humiliation, imagining tomorrow becomes difficult. My pain was real, but the conclusion my mind reached—that my life had ended—was not the truth. I only know that now because I lived long enough to see what happened next.

3. The Walk Back Home & Moving Forward

I walked back home. Problems did not magically disappear, but that night a quiet thought emerged: "We have survived so many difficult days before. Why allow one terrible day to end all future days?"

In the days that followed, I took practical steps: I initiated selling a land parcel to clear the home loan, closed the garment unit, and opened a retail shop. Work gave the days structure, and time gradually lightened the pressure.

4. Five Years Later (2026 Reflection)

Today, in 2026, life is still not perfect, but it is fundamentally different from 2021. The business closed, but new creative paths opened. Writing articles, creating videos, and sharing life lessons now bring a quiet sense of fulfillment.

💡 If You Are Sitting in Your Own Dark Place:

  • You do not have to solve your entire life tonight—you only need to get through this moment safely.
  • Do not stay alone with overwhelming thoughts. Reach out to someone you trust or seek medical support.
  • Staying alive is sometimes simply the decision to let tomorrow arrive.

Conclusion: Life Changes When You Stay

The road may not immediately become easy, but it can and does change. The story you think is ending may simply be waiting for you to turn the next page.

Quick Summary & Key Takeaways

  • Perspective Shift: Extreme stress distorts perception; temporary crises are not permanent destinations.
